Futura Industries acquires the Commercial Floor Covering business from M-D

Futura Industries and M-D Building Products announced that Futura Industries will be acquiring the Commercial Floor Covering business from M-D. Futura is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been a supplier to the professional flooring market since 1946. M-D Building Products, based in Oklahoma City is a diversified manufacturer of Weatherstrip, Floor Trims & Installation Tools, Construction Tools and Levels and other flooring accessories for both the professional and retail markets. The acquisition of the Commercial Floor Trim business from M-D allows both companies to focus their individual resources on growing their identified targeted channels.
This acquisition will greatly expand Futura's role in servicing the professional distributor and customer in flooring trims as well as floor installation tools.
According to Sue Johnson, President of Futura, “the transition of this segment of M-D's commercial business to Futura is a natural conclusion to both organizations tightening their focuses even more, which will benefit all customers."
Loren Plotkin, M-D President and CEO stated, "M-D has long enjoyed a close and many times personal relationship with our commercial distributors. As we look to accelerate our growth and provide focus on key channels, the transition of the commercial business to Futura was a perfect fit. They have excellent service, relationships and a similar approach to business."
As part of the acquisition Futura Industries will acquire M-D's commercial carpet & floor trims as well as the installation tools sold through professional distributors and installers. Terms of the acquisition were not released.
