Award of Merit, Utah Safety Council
August 2009
The Utah Safety Council presented Futura Industries with the “Award of Merit” at their Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on Friday, August 28, 2009.
The “Award of Merit" recognizes outstanding achievements in corporate safety programs. In order to receive the "Award of Merit," an organization's incidence rate must be lower than the national average for the industry, the organization must demonstrate continuous improvement or sustained levels of excellence and it must have essential elements of a safety program in place.
SHARP Award, OSHA
June 2009
The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) is for small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is an achievement that singles out Futura Industries as a model for worksite safety and health among our business peers.
On June 24, 2009, Futura Industries was officially recognized with this prestigious award from the State of Utah OSHA Consultation program. Upon receiving this SHARP recognition, our worksite is exempt from programmed inspections during the period that our SHARP certification is valid (3 years). Futura Industries can proudly say we are one of the five companies in the state of Utah to receive this award. Earning SHARP recognition requires an employer to addresses OSHA's 1989 Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines and signifies that we are below the national average on Lost-Workday Injury and Illness Rate (LWDII) and Total Recordable Case Rate (TRCR).
SHARP Award, OSHA
November 2006
Futura Industries was presented the 2006 State of Utah Office of Occupational Safety & Health Administration “SHARP” Safety award.
Futura Industries was recognized for this prestigious award after a series of on-site inspections by a State of Utah OSHA team. The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is an achievement that singles Futura Industries out as a model for worksite safety and health. Since inception of the OSHA SHARP award, Futura Industries is the 6th company in Utah to receive this award.
Earning SHARP recognition requires an employer to request a consultation visit that involves a complete hazard identification survey; involve employees in the consultation process; correct all hazards identified by the consultant; implement and maintain a safety and health management system that, at a minimum, addresses OSHA's 1989 Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines; lower Lost-Workday Injury and Illness rate (LWDII) and Total Recordable Case Rate (TRCR) to below the national average.
